This is my dream: To live as my forefathers once did - in harmony with the land that sustains us. A project to investigate and innovate the creation of a low impact home with methods of living in a form of permaculture designed to sustain my family and improve biodiversity. To leave the land richer than before and in doing so enable others to do so.

Reading List

I think it would be somewhat wrong of me to start out without sharing some of the sites that I respect and use. Those sites that I go back to again and again for further information. Blog's that I subscribe to and just generally providing a good set of resources of the greener life.

The story of stuff - if you have not seen this site and the video on it then you have missed out! Get yourself over to the site right now and view that movie. It really is that good and more.

Story of stuff, blog - the blog by the creative force behind the video.

I am a geek. It's part of who I am. Due to my geeky nature I like things like the wikipedia and Google. I find Tipi's fascinating and have that page bookmarked so I can get back it regularly. Yurt's are probably more practical in the UK though.

Foraging for food is another topic I have a real drive for. As an idea I find it simply appeals to me on a deep level. I freely admit that I know far too little about it but that does not stop me wanting to read about it. naturali.co.uk has some good content on this topic as do pfaf.org, wildmanwildfood.com and lowimpact.org.

Remember that I said how much I love the idea of living in a Tipi even though the British winter is too cold for it? Well here are the plans to make your own tipi and here is another guide.

Is it a blog? Who knows but it is a diary - the Yurt Diary. The writings of someone living the dream.

Talking of yurts and living the dream - here is what happened to a couple in the UK that are living the dream albeit with the local council set against them. That Round House.

On the subject of living the dream here is a site about low impact woodland homes. simondale.net/house - remember however that, as the couple from "that round house" discovered, the law is not always a friend and some parts of it make no sense. This will not stop the carrier politician from persecuting the law against you should you come into their cross hairs. I advise anyone who wishes to live the dream to do nothing to attract the attention of the local politic people - they are by far the most dangerous of the species.

Now on to the subject of water - Bottled water!

The Steward Community Woodland is also worth looking at but despite having it bookmarked I have yet to read the site completely. It's a permaculture project permaculture.org.uk have more on that subject.

Do you have a great link to share - why not tell us about it in the comments. (caveat: this does not mean advertise anything but does mean share any site (even your own) that is interesting in the same way these links are interesting, thanks).
